Your first appointment is designed to feel relaxed, thorough and unhurried. We reserve ample time to truly understand your hearing concerns, communication goals and lifestyle needs.

During your visit, you can expect:

  • A comprehensive ear examination
  • Advanced diagnostic testing tailored to you
  • Clear explanation of your results in straightforward, understandable language
  • Personalized recommendations based on best-practice standards

If hearing technology is recommended, we will review your options together, including realistic expectations, benefits and transparent pricing.

Your initial appointment typically lasts 60–90 minutes.

Before Your Appointment

To make your visit as smooth as possible:

  • New patient forms will be sent electronically before your appointment.
  • We kindly ask that you complete them in advance whenever possible.
  • If needed, please arrive 15 minutes early to complete paperwork in the office.

Please bring (if applicable):

  • Your insurance card and photo identification
  • A referral from your primary care provider (if required by your insurance plan)
  • A list of current medications (including dosage and frequency)
  • Any previous hearing test results

New patients will complete the following forms:

  • Patient Information & Contact Form
  • Health History Questionnaire
  • Hearing & Communication Questionnaire
  • HIPAA Privacy Acknowledgment
  • Financial Policy & Consent for Treatment

If patients are unsure whether additional documentation is needed, we are happy to assist.

Driving Directions

From the South (Wilmington / Porters Neck):
Head north on US-17 toward Hampstead. Continue past the main Hampstead business district. The Beacon building will be on your left.

From the North (Holly Ridge / Surf City / Jacksonville):
Head south on US-17 toward Wilmington. The Beacon building will be on your right.

Parking and Building Access

Complimentary parking is available directly in front of the building, along the side and in the rear parking area. No parking pass or validation is required. Accessible parking spaces are conveniently located near the main entrance.

Please enter through the covered drop-off entrance, which leads directly into the main lobby of The Beacon.

From the lobby:

  • Take the elevator or stairs to the second floor.
  • Follow the suite signage to Suite 200 – Coastal Sound Audiology.

The building is fully ADA accessible.
